What is a Plastic for Meal Event?
At our Plastic for Meal Events, people bring collected plastic waste and exchange it for a warm meal. Instead of simply giving something away, the model creates an exchange: participants contribute to a cleaner environment while receiving a freshly prepared meal in return.
The events bring communities together around two challenges at the same time plastic pollution and access to food.
In 2026, Buy Food with Plastic India aims to organize 8 Plastic for Meal Events across Mumbai, creating opportunities for communities to take action against plastic pollution while benefiting directly from their contribution.

What is an Awareness Session?
Our Awareness Sessions bring environmental education directly into schools and help students understand the impact of plastic pollution, responsible waste management, recycling, and the role they can play in creating a cleaner future.
Through simple, practical and age-appropriate activities, we encourage students to build sustainable habits that they can carry into their homes and communities.
In 2026, Buy Food with Plastic India aims to conduct 96 Awareness sessions across 24 Schools in Mumbai, reaching up to 200 students per session.

What is a Collection Point?
Education creates awareness, but we want students to have the opportunity to turn what they learn into action.
After our Awareness Sessions, Collection Points placed directly in schools give students a simple way to participate. Students can bring used plastic bottles from their homes and surroundings and deposit them at their school.
Once the Collection Point fills up, our team collects the plastic and sends it into the recycling process.
In this way, the journey doesn't end with an Awareness Session students can put what they have learned into practice and build responsible habits over time.
By expanding our network to 50 Collection Points in schools, we want to give more students across Mumbai the opportunity to take action against plastic pollution every day
Plastic for Income
Turning Plastic Into Value
What is Plastic for Income?
Plastic for Income gives people a practical reason to collect plastic instead of allowing it to end up on streets, in waterways or in the environment.
Community members can bring collected plastic to Buy Food with Plastic India and exchange it for money or useful everyday essentials such as rice, cooking oil and notebooks.
This creates value from something that would otherwise be treated as waste while encouraging cleaner communities and supporting participating households.
In 2026, we aim to strengthen Plastic for Income across 8 communities in Mumbai, making plastic collection more accessible and creating a direct benefit for the people who participate.
