Nicaragua

Our educational community events offer the local population the opportunity to receive a hot meal by donating 20 plastic bottles. At the same time, we use the opportunity to present our Refill Truck project and educate them about it. On average, around 160 people take part in our events in Nicaragua.

The refill truck enables participants to refill shampoo and cleaning products - either for a fee or by handing in plastic bottles. In this way, we promote a sustainable lifestyle and actively contribute to reducing plastic waste.

School-workshops

Topic: Environmental education and sustainability for children

Target group: 50 schoolchildren aged 8-10

In this interactive workshop, children learn about the basics of recycling and the circular economy in a fun and engaging way. We explain which materials can currently be recycled - including plastic bottles and aluminum cans - and the positive impact recycling has on the environment.

A special focus is placed on the "5 Rs" of sustainability: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair. The children learn how they and their families can implement these principles in their everyday lives to avoid plastic waste and protect the environment.

We also present our Truck Refill project, which enables families to refill shampoo and cleaning products sustainably - either for a fee or by handing in plastic bottles. The children are given a flyer to take home so that their families can also benefit from this cheaper offer and reduce their plastic consumption.

Aims of the workshop:
1. Raising awareness: The children understand what recycling is and why it is important to reduce their plastic consumption.
2. Strengthen their ability to act: They learn how they can actively contribute to reducing plastic waste.
3. Involve families:By passing on the flyer, they can motivate their families to develop more sustainable consumption habits.

This workshop combines education with concrete approaches to action and inspires the next generation to work towards a more sustainable future.

Refill truck project

The Refill Truck project operates from Tuesday to Saturday in the Rivas region (180,000 inhabitants). It collects plastic bottles whose lids and rings are upcycled in our own factory . The PET bottles are sold in Managua to cover the project costs. At the same time, the truck reduces plastic consumption by offering shampoo and cleaning products at reasonable prices - either in exchange for money or plastic bottles.

Re- & upcyclingfactory

The Re- & Upcycling factory is active from Tuesday to Saturday and processes plastic bottles from the Refill Truck project and the educational community events. Lids and rings are upcycled on site, while PET bottles and aluminum cans are sold for recycling in Managua. In addition, factory produces plastic bottle containers - with the aim of manufacturing and installing six by 2025.
